In the past decade, there has been an upsurge of economic activities, not only by big multinational corporations and big business houses, but also by small businesses and start ups. Services that a small business owner could have not even imagined of hiring/using in the early 2000s are now available at a click of a button. All priced so fairly and competitively that even the most trivial services can be taken at a negotiated price point.

My prime focus here would be eCommerce, because that is one business platform almost every business is talking about especially in the COVID-era, which has brought an all time high surge in online retail activities. Also, I am more interested in business that are managing their own eCommerce website; I won’t be referring to the commerce that happens on “Marketplaces”, where businesses upload their product line to be sold on platforms like Amazon, Etsy, Flipkart etc.

Setting up an eCommerce website in the early 2000s was altogether a different ball game: one had to hire a team of developers. These developers would then establish servers where your website would be setup and hosted (like using the famous Amazon AWS). Then an eCommerce website from scratch would be built, which would take months altogether to complete. Custom designing and coding is expensive and it would have taken a toll on your budget. After…
